The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have gone on for quite a long time now. While no war is ever popular, the Left and their propaganda division commonly known as the news media have painted these wars as being bad all around. As such, I expect that in the coming months, the Democrats and Obama will clutch defeat from the jaws of victory by ordering a scheduled pull out of both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Some of you may cheer this decision. Many will claim that this is finally the end of Bush’s evil policies. And others will say that only Democrats could accomplish “Peace on Earth.” The dates will be scheduled and the troops will do as they’re told and begin the pullout. However, this is where the happy story stops being happy.
I predict that the terrorists, insurgents, enemies or whatever designation you think applies will use this as an opportunity. How you might ask? Simple. Attacks will focus on limiting what can be taken from these countries. Airports, seaports and roads will all be major targets along with supply and ammo depots. The goal will be to get the US to leave as much equipment and supplies behind. As the US death toll rises and stability in these countries rapidly decreases, the weak willed Democrats will decide to cut their losses and just pull out the troops and forget the equipment. Oh yes, weapons, supplies and expensive American equipment will fall into enemy hands. And lets not forget soldiers unable to make the last call that will be left behind to the tender mercies of our enemies. Think I’m wrong; remember Somalia during the Clinton era. Clinton, having never served anything larger then his own purposes, was unable to conceive why soldiers would risk death to rescue their wounded and dead comrades.
Once we are gone, Iraq and Afghanistan will completely destabilize and will potentially destabilize more of the region. Of course, the Liberals will blame Bush for this effect as well as the millions of civilians who will die in the grand purges to come. However, even this is only the beginning. Convinced that America has no backbone and that its leaders are impotent, terrorist groups will strike out again and again. And Obama’s response will be to talk…, and talk…, and talk. And in a decade or so, perhaps less, America will have to fight these people again; perhaps on our own soil.
